Tutoring

In support of its mission of character, leadership, service and scholarship, Tampa Prep's chapter of the National Honor Society offers free tutoring to any student in upper or middle school who may need a little extra help. The NHS members make themselves available during study halls, lunch, before school or after school to provide assistance in any of the subject areas as well as general study skills & organization or SAT / ACT prep.

A student's first resource should always be the class teacher and it is required that students have already been in to see that teacher on a regular basis before requesting a NHS tutor. Even when a tutor is assigned, students are still required to see that class teacher for extra help on a regular basis.

Students are expected to attend scheduled tutoring sessions and to be prepared for those meetings by bringing all necessary materials and by having already completed assignments to the best of their ability. The tutor will then work with the student on improving their class notes, reviewing material, answering student concerns or helping to make corrections.

A request for a NHS tutor can be made through either the student's class teacher or advisor. Unfortunately, due the limited number of NHS tutors and their extremely busy schedules, a student may only request a tutor for one class.

If you have any questions, please contact your student's class teacher or advisor by making use of the Faculty & Staff Directory or the NHS Advisor, at nhs.adviser@tampaprep.org.
