A Safe, Comforting Environment
The Middle School provides an environment in which each student develops a strong academic foundation and a sense of ethical and social responsibility. The close personal relationships developed in the classrooms, on the playing fields, and in advising sessions make Tampa Prep a very special place for students to grow and develop. Touchstone events in each grade level leave students with lasting memories – from class projects and school-wide activities to experiential learning trips to Boston, central Florida and the Florida Keys.
An Accepting Community
We teach students to think critically and creatively and encourage good decision-making strategies to promote a sense of teamwork and cooperation. The expectation of kindness, respect, honesty and responsibility is woven into our Honor Code and modeled by all members of the community to build character during these important adolescent years. Students gain understanding about themselves and their abilities, try new things and form lasting friendships.
Free to Be Me
Beginning in the Middle School, students explore a variety of interests through required elective courses. Sixth graders choose from a handful of visual and performing arts options, as well as athletic teams. They also have a variety of clubs to join to explore their interests with like-minded peers.
Preparing for Transition
Tampa Prep students mentor their younger peers through programs such as Peer Counseling, Freshman Foundations and Middle School Leadership Club. The transition from Middle School to Upper School is seamless as students begin to find their unique voices, confident to address the student body at assemblies and approach adults with original ideas and suggestions.
