Tampa Prep Faculty
Mr. W. Dennis Facciolo
Johns Hopkins University, M.L.A., Arts & Sciences 1982
A graduate of the University of Delaware and Johns Hopkins University, I began my formal teaching career in 1976 at the Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware. In my years as an independent school educator, I have held the positions of teacher, coach, Division Director, Director of Marketing, and Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management.
I joined Tampa Preparatory School in 1991 as the founding director of their new Middle School. In 14 years as Middle School Director, the faculty and I established a program that became recognized in Tampa Bay and the Florida Council of Independent Schools as a model for nurturing the middle school child. As a teacher of middle school aged children all my life, and a strong advocate for diversity, I was a founding Trustee of the Academy Prep Center, a fifth through eighth grade school for underserved, ambitious, bright children in the inner city of Tampa in 2003.
My professional work in Admissions extends beyond Tampa Preparatory School and I have worked extensively with FCIS and SSATB to advocate the importance of Admissions Directors in the life of independent schools and their relationship with Heads of School and Trustees. “Independent Schools, Independent Minds” is a phrase that community leaders often hear from me.
In my 25th year as a member of the faculty, I have had the unique privilege to have worked with people whose vision of establishing a non-denominational, coeducational urban prep school that would mirror the finest prep school in major metropolitan areas has become a reality! Success is about standing out, not fitting in!
My children, Justin ‘97 and Lindsey ‘98, are graduates of Tampa Preparatory School. Justin is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY and Lindsey is a graduate of Furman University and the University of Florida.
