Development at Tampa Prep
A Culture of Giving
The philosophy of an independent school relies on a tradition of philanthropy to support the operating budget. The culture of giving at Tampa Prep ensures the continued success of our school’s various programs. Each year, generous donations from our school community help us maintain our outstanding learning environment. This model is embraced by the Board of Trustees, faculty, parents, alumni and even students, as they initiate fundraising efforts through clubs. The Annual Fund is the School’s primary community-wide fundraising endeavor.
The department hosts several events throughout the year, including the Golf Outing, Dads Night Out, Grandparents Day and our annual Gala. The department partners with the Tampa Prep Parents Alliance to oversee the many events they host for both parents and students.
Building for the Future
The School has completed several recent campaigns to raise funds for building improvements, beginning in 2012 with The Center Project. This initiative transformed the courtyard and Smith Black Box Theater lobby into a 4,000 sq. ft, technologically advanced dining and gathering space known as the Student Center. The second part of this initiative transformed the previous lunchroom area on the third-floor into a wing housing College Counseling, STEM and Robotics labs along with a Technology Support room.
Updates continued in 2013 with Impact Now, a campaign to transform all Middle School classrooms at Prep into Active Learning Environments (ALEs). These customizable spaces feature 3LCD touch-enabled interactive projectors, green screens, custom sound systems, amplification systems and ergonomic furniture. The changes enhance engagement, problem solving and collaboration.
Additional Ways to Give
In addition to these programs, additional opportunities are available through Planned Giving and Endowment Funds. We thank all of our generous donors for contributions that allow Tampa Prep to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.
