Painting without boundaries, singing a cappella, producing video segments, performing on stage…Tampa Prep students can do all of this and more during their time at Prep. Tampa Prep's Arts Department is committed to providing a wide variety of courses to accommodate diverse student interests. The department includes dance class, music offerings such as Chorus, Band and String Orchestra; digital arts programs in Video Production and Journalism; visual arts courses like Printmaking, Ceramics and Painting; and theatre courses including Musical Theatre and Technical Theatre. Advanced Placement courses are offered in Visual Art (three portfolio possibilities), Art History and Music Theory. Each art discipline welcomes beginners as well as advanced students, providing artistic opportunities for all. (For the full list of Course Descriptions, view pages 45-63 in our Student Guide.)
Discover Your Passion
Students begin their sixth grade year exploring electives in trimester segments so they are exposed to band, chorus and visual arts. They get a feel for each and can pursue the subjects that interest them most in seventh and eighth grade. In Upper School, students can choose from an abundance of elective art offerings to harness their creative energy.
From School Walls to Gallery Halls
The Arts Department presents a variety of performances, art exhibits and concerts for all levels throughout the school year. Several groups perform within the community, exhibiting their vocal, instrumental and visual art talents from the Tampa Museum of Art to Tampa International Airport. Opportunities to attend local and national festivals and contests are part of the Tampa Prep Arts experience.
