Declamations are a unique Tampa Prep tradition that helps students build confidence through public speaking. All students, grades 6-12, are required to prepare and deliver an oral presentation. The culmination of their writing, editing, memorizing and rehearsing culminates in performances by every student in every grade. The criteria for these presentations varies by grade. In Middle School, students present written prose or poetry, while Upper School students write and present an original speech. Through a 3-part process, one or two winners is selected in each grade by a panel of judges. These students present at the Declamation Exhibition, an all-school assembly.
