Welcome to the Terrapin Community! This page provides an overview of some important events throughout the year, as well as useful links and resources. Please be aware that Tampa Prep communicates to our parents primarily via email. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IS UP TO DATE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO RECEIVE IMPORTANT COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE SCHOOL. Please make sure your email address is accurate in your My BackPack profile. Watch for our weekly eNewsletter to keep up with events throughout the year.
Important Reminders for the Start of the 2017-18 School Year

- Please note that School Forms are due July 24.
- Make sure your student's iPad device meets the required specs
GRADE LEVEL ACTIVITIES
The sense of unity within each class is strengthened through several programs and retreats at the start of each school year. Watch your email for a schedule with details about each grade level outing.
OPENING CONVOCATION & THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
During the first days of school students update their iPads and participate in various activities with their class. Students are given instructions on how to obtain all resources (ebooks, books and apps) during the first week of classes. For more information about the iPad device, visit www.tampaprep.org/parents/ipad-info. *PLEASE NOTE: There is no need to purchase textbooks or eBooks prior to the start of school.
We officially kick off the school year with Opening Convocation (formal attire), where students hear from several speakers. Parents are welcome to attend.
NEW PARENT SHINDIG
New Parent Shindig is a social event for PARENTS ONLY that takes place at the end of August. Parents with students new to the school enjoy food and drinks with other parents and meet several key members of the School community.
At Parents' Night in September, parents follow their child’s schedule to meet each teacher and advisor. Pick up a School Directory, meet Tampa Prep Parents Alliance members, hear about ways you can get involved and learn about the Clubs and Activities available to our students.
Thanksgiving Convocation is a Tampa Prep tradition that celebrates the arts in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. The concert features performances by our Terrapin musicians, as well as spoken word tributes from students and faculty. Mark your calendar for this joyful celebration!
Headmasters' Challenge is an annual tradition honoring our rivalry with Berkeley Preparatory School. Winter Sports teams at the Middle School, Junior Varsity and Varsity level compete. This day of demanding contests and friendly sportsmanship between two rival schools is always a family favorite. Tampa Prep hosts the 2017-18 games, so bring your RED and GOLD spirit to cheer on our teams!
Grandparents Day is a school favorite! Grandparents and special friends are invited to accompany students to class for a half-day of fun and camaraderie. Grandparents are treated to special performances and join their grandchildren in classes to experience Tampa Prep firsthand! If we do not have contact information for your child's grandparents, please login to My BackPack at https://tampaprep.seniormbp.com/SeniorApps to add grandparent information (email and mailing address) to your profile.
While Tampa Prep students "go beyond" on a regular basis, the annual Terrapin Service Day exemplifies the school's mission of "a higher purpose than self." Students look beyond our campus’ borders to volunteer in various ways throughout the community. Each grade level takes on a different cause and donates their day to the organization or task.
TAMPA PREP'S FUNDRAISING GALA
The Tampa Prep community gathers each year to celebrate and raise money for our school. This year’s event will feature music, great food, fantastic auction items and an elegant evening that benefits the students of Tampa Prep! We would love for you to be part of the fun!
The Upper School will put on a spring musical in the Smith Black Box Theater. These productions are always a hit and you won't want to miss it! Watch the weekly newsletter for details.
