Science Olympiad Team Takes Fourth at State

During Spring Break, Tampa Prep's Science Olympiad team traveled to the University of Central Florida in Orlando to participate in the Science Olympiad state competition. Our team of fifteen students competed against forty-four other schools in 23 different events that range the spectrum of science subjects. The students competed in hands-on, interactive, inquiry-based activities in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth space science, and engineering. Although this is Tampa Prep's first year involved in the Science Olympiad, our Terrapins won medals in a number of events and their overall score placed our team in fourth place! The team looks forward to returning to the state competition next year and hopes to compete at the national level.

TAYLOR BURDGE SIGNS WITH STANFORD
Senior Taylor Burdge, two-time defending FSRA 1x Sculling State Champion, signed her National Letter of Intent with Stanford University on Friday. Taylor will be Rowing for the national power Cardinals starting next fall. Congratulations Taylor!

DEVONTAE MORGAN SIGNS WITH BUTLER
Tampa Prep senior Devontae Morgan signed his National Letter of Intent to Butler University last week. Butler’s basketball team has earned back-to-back trips to the national tournament. During a night practice, Devontae signed with the school while surrounded by family members, coaches and teammates. Congratulations, Devontae!

Joe Fenlon Named #15 Coach in 7 Counties

Bright House Networks is airing a countdown of the top 20 coaches in their viewing area (which includes seven counties). Coach Joe Fenlon, Tampa Prep's Varsity Boys Basketball coach, was featured today as he was named #15! Thousands of coaches across all sports were considered for this great honor and only 20 will be selected. Coach Fenlon is the first basketball coach to be announced. Taylor Burdge Earns National Rowing Title

This past Sunday in Oak Ridge, TN, rising senior Taylor Burdge won the U.S. Rowing National Championship in the Women's Youth Single! Congratulations, Taylor. Your dedication has absolutely paid off. We are so proud of this young Terrapin!

Senior Chosen for FHSAA Advisory Committee

Rising senior and 2011-12 Student Body President Katie Carter has been selected for the FHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for 2011-2012. Katie was the only representative selected from the Bay Area. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee provides a voice in the FHSAA governance structure to identify important issues and promote a positive image of the student-athlete in the state of Florida. The 16 student-athletes were chosen for their displays of leadership within their sport, school and community. Congratulations Katie!

The Annual Fund directly impacts every program, department, student and faculty member by contributing to the School's overall financial health and sustainability. During fiscal year 2010, unrestricted and restricted gifts to the Annual Fund from over 634 alumni, parents, trustees, faculty/staff and other friends totaled $633,302.
