To kick off Halloween and conclude a great Spirit Week, Tampa Prep hosted our first Fall Family BBQ with more than 700 members of the Terrapin community in attendance. TPPA volunteers transformed multiple areas throughout Tampa Prep into a festive Fall atmosphere. Terrapin Dads spent the afternoon grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for attendees.
Once the festival got started, there was music in the circle and a Halloween themed Photo Booth in the lobby of Walter Athletic Complex. Theater students led brave guests through a very spooky haunted house in the Smith Black Box Theater. With different themed scare zones, it was certainly not for the faint of heart! Haunted house guests were terrified, but also impressed with the theatrical makeup and costuming created by the students. In the courtyard, younger students and children decorated mini pumpkins with stickers, jewels and eyes to take home.

To wrap up a fun evening, Mr. Plummer and Earnest announced the first ever grade-level Spirit Winners and presented impressive trophies created by Mr. Quah. Mr. Fenlon accepted the award for the 6th grade class and Mr. Carlson accepted the award for the 11th grade class. Following the Spirit Awards, Harry Cheung and Molly Monsour announced the Upper School students who were voted onto Homecoming Court.
The Fall Family BBQ was a great night celebrating Homecoming, Terrapin spirit and Fall. We are already looking forward to next year's BBQ and this event becoming an annual tradition! A special thanks to seventh grade moms Pattie Schreiber and Mary Warram for co-chairing the 1st Fall Family BBQ.
