Team Overview

Drive, dedication, commitment – these are all traits that our runners at Tampa Prep possess. Cross country is not a glamorous sport, sometimes grueling, but in the end, it is one of the most rewarding sports an athlete can take part in. It is a sport that builds mental toughness and heart.

Our daily training schedule is comprised of distance runs, tempo runs, track work-outs, and strength/weight training.

Tampa Prep Cross Country, like all the other teams at Tampa Prep, has its sights set on an appearance at the State meet year in and year out for both the girls and boys teams.

Coach Info

Head Coach: Jon Noland
Alma Mater: Bellevue University Omaha, NE
Background: As an athlete and as a coach, my approach has always been simple – focus on the process, put in the work and you will see the results. By paying attention to the details and training and racing in an intelligent and not just aggressive manner, gains will be made and success will be realized. I have applied this approach to myself as an athlete over the years and have been able to train and race at a very high level. I have competed and placed at Regional, National and World Championship triathlon events for the Sprint, Olympic and 70.3 distances. I've been a USAT All-American for 6 consecutive years and USAT Top Age Group athlete in Florida for 4 consecutive years. In 2015, I won USATF titles in Florida for the 10K and a National Masters Championship in the 5000M as well as a runner up finish in the 1500M. I claimed another National Championship by winning my age group and overall Masters titles at the USAT Age Group National Championships in the Sprint Distance race. Been member of Team USA and have held Florida age group state records for open 5K, 10K and 13.1 distance runs. Most recently I won a USAT National Championship in Long Course Duathlon.

Working as a full time multi-sport coach for the past several years I have worked with athletes of varying ages and abilities – from first timers to elites – and have had great success preparing people for all levels and distances of competition. I focus on creating fitter, faster and smarter athletes by addressing individual needs, identifying limiters and turning them into strengths.
