Mike graduated from the University of Florida as a “double Gator” having served as Student Body President, a member of Law Review, and  Order of the Coif.  He now leads the Florida transactional group for global law firm DLA Piper.

Mike is nationally recognized for his pro bono work, in particular for providing free legal assistance to: disaster victims; survivors of domestic violence; and military veterans.  By way of example, in the wake of Hurricane Andrew, Mike organized an effort that assisted more than 20,000 people and two days after the Oklahoma City bombing tragedy, FEMA flew Mike to the blast site to assist in providing pro bono relief.

Internationally, Mike assisted the Women’s Caucus of Parliament in Peru in drafting model domestic violence legislation. He also trained Romanian judges, prosecutors and advocates in properly handling cases involving gender based violence.

Mike is a passionate ultra distance athlete. He has competed in the IRONMAN World Triathlon Championship in Hawaii as well as in more than a dozen other Ironman races around the globe. He has run marathons in 22 states and completed “the World’s Toughest Foot Race”—the 150 mile Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara Desert.

Mike’s greatest accomplishments are being married to his wife, Rachelle, and being dad to his sons, Wyatt (’22) and Bryce (’23).
