A Helip Wooley

I’ve taught students from middle school through graduate school. No matter the age or stage, my goals as an educator are to actively engage students and develop their critical and analytical thinking skills. My hope is that these skills will help to create independent thinkers who appreciate science and care for the world in which we live. Prior to teaching, I received my Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Florida and my Ph.D. in Human Genetics from Tulane University.

I conducted postdoctoral research in cell biology and completed a fellowship in clinical biochemical genetics at the National Human Genome Research Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. I enjoy bringing this real-world research experience into my teaching, especially in AP Biology and my two electives: Human Medical Disorders and Bioethics. When I’m not at school, I love traveling with my family and being outdoors: hiking, biking, kayaking, sailing, gardening, or just taking the dogs for a walk.
