I was fortunate enough to be educated at an independent private school in Connecticut, where I grew up. My college studies were concentrated towards retail management and consumer services, but it was my summer jobs during those years that helped me recognize how much I loved working in software, on computers and especially working with data and information. I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom until the youngest of my three sons reached school age. When I re-entered the work force, it was the computer age, and I have been working with and managing data ever since. I find the problem solving to be challenging, and when I find a solution, my co-workers will often hear me exclaim “I win!,” and occasionally witness me doing a jig down the hallway!
It was my second marriage that brought me to Florida. My husband worked at Tampa Prep and my son enrolled at Tampa Prep, and since I was here every day, when the chance to cover an associate’s maternity leave came up in early 2008, I took advantage of the opportunity. During that time, the Assistant to Development position opened, and I have been gift processing, managing family and alumni information, designing custom reports and many other business tasks ever since. Even though my skill sets can be applied to other industries, and my son graduated in 2011, I find the smaller community of education to be collaborative, and there’s always some levity to be found each day.
