Andrew Hoy serves as Tampa Prep’s Choral Director leading four choirs and teaching AP Music Theory. He studied at University of South Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition. He wrote a piece that was premiered by the Florida Orchestra in 2009. He also was the winner of the Help’s Festival Composition Contest in 2009.

In 2011, Mr. Hoy graduated with his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting, studying under James Bass, Duncan Couch, and Robert Summer. In that summer, he participated in the Professional Choral Institute with Seraphic Fire. The recording of the Brahm’s Requiem from that summer earned a Grammy nomination. Mr. Hoy has been on faculty at Tampa Prep since 2011. Chamber Chorus has been ranked “Superior” by the last 17 judges in various competitions. Upper School students have traveled to perform in Washington D.C and Carnegie Hall in NYC under his leadership.
